A Little Sanctuary exists solely to help support, encourage, and teach women – and often men – of all ages, persuasions, religions, political thoughts, and illnesses (mental or physical). We are all in this life together.
We provide stories from our own experiences, coping skills, recipes for good health, and the knowledge that life does get better if we give it a chance.
Ashley Ruth, founder and chief blogger, has most recently been a secondary English teacher in small-town Texas. Born into a Southern Baptist family, her dad is a pastor and her mother teaches Spanish. She has had to work out her faith with it always being beside her – through questioning, debating, and crying out to a God she had been taught was there. It wasn’t until, after studying English and Religion at Oklahoma Baptist University, and suffering from years of depression, anxiety, and self-harm that she found complete freedom and wholeness in Jesus by accepting what she had known all along – that grace is here and that it is enough.
In recent years, Ashley Ruth has dealt with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, adrenal fatigue, and the beginnings of macular degeneration. Her interests include photography, writing, traveling, and three-toed sloths. She looks forward to helping women of all ages in mind, body, and spirit through her past, present, and future experiences through this blog.
She married the love of her life on Thanksgiving weekend, 2015, and now lives in New Zealand with her husband.
